I've been downloading them directly from 23andMe, and have had no problems (and I finished today - 1,110 files!) >From your 23andMe home page, choose MY RESULTS, and then at the bottom right of the next screen, ANCESTRY TOOLS. Then select Countries of Ancestry (top of the left column). This will display all your sharing matches, first the ones on your account, and then an alphabetical list of everybody else. Choose a name, wait for the results to come up. Just below the chromosome diagram is a link to download the results. What you'll get is a .csv file, which is text. Double-clicking on this will cause it to open in Excel, or you can import it into Excel or other software that recognizes this format.
