I've definitely had German-American matches. One was the only person in common with my mother's German relative (we are still solving that mystery but have been able to determine which family in the US and which villages in Germany. There are a lot more German-American matches on my father's side, but that's not saying loads of them, just that quite a few people are definitely on the German-from-Poland side. Since my earliest immigrants came around 1850 the DNA matches should be about equal for Europe and the New World, but of course they aren't.
