Peter, RE: > What could my sister's admixture look like in that same area?? > How might it appear different from mine?? > Could she look mostly "French" and I look mostly east Asian from 50 to 80 million? > Is there a better way to ask this question? Probably not a better way to ask the question, but there is a better way to answer it.... You can find out what you and your sister's admixture ethnic makeup is by using the 'Chromosome Painting' Utility at GEDMatch.com The utility will show the different ethnic groups that were identified, and also show an ethnic map for each segment. Just scroll down the map and look at chromosome 3 from 50 million to 80 million. I like to use the HarappaWorld model at Gedmatch because it reflects Geno 2.0 better (for me) than the other mapping models. (I like to look for my Native American component.) The way her segment could look different is if it overlaps different areas, or has a different length. If you are sharing the same area, then your ethnic makeup of that particular segment is likely to be similar. I do not recall an ethnic group for France as having been identified as yet, so no, don't try to estimate ethnicity by geographic area as you done here. More likely, 50 million to 80 million is a fairly large segment, and probably can contain up to something on the order of 15 different ethnic groups. Rather, you should be working that question the other way around, and ask what areas in France contain the ethnicity of your segment (if you are searching in France). - Dave Hamm RE: On 10/30/2015 12:21 PM, genealogy-dna-request@rootsweb.com wrote: > Date: Fri, 30 Oct 2015 15:00:02 +0000 (UTC) > From: "Peter J. 3. Ann I've downloaded all the COA spreadsheets over the years. Everyone who shares genomes gets one. I sort them by Chr & Start; find my name on their list; highlight the overlapping area on their list around my segment; then compare those names (in the highlighted area) with the same area on my spreadsheet. The Matches in common Triangulate! I match the COA person, and we both have the same Match on overlapping segments. This Triangulates my 23andMe Matches who have taken the COA survey (some of them haven't shared genomes with me.) I also offer to send this sorted spreadsheet to the Match, in exchange for their email;>j Jim - www.segmentology.org > On Nov 1, 2015, at 4:42 AM, Ann Turner via <genealogy-dna@rootsweb.com> wrote: > > For people who are downloading hundreds of files, what are your plans for > using them? 3. Bet the shirt was “dark maroon" in color. Hex color code #631148 is for a dark shade of maroon. See http://www.spycolor.com/631148 On the other hand he could be a mechanic, it was a salute to Tecumseh Carburetor 631148 Or it could be a salute to DKNY Fusion Lifewear Shaping Tank 631148. After all you saw him in Greenwich Village. Or it could be he’s a cook, and particular likes may tag stoves, and part 631148 is a replacement heating element for Whirlpool & Maytag Surface stoves The possibilities are endless, but I’m inclined to think he liked “dark maroon”. 3. FTDNA numbers are sequential. our latest two weeks ago was a 440000 so can't be a number for FTDNA. Could be a gecaching travel bug number for that game. 3. Janis, Can you elaborate on how this was corrected? Did they rerun your test or your mothers and found it matched? Also, can you send me a copy of your original msg posting your issue please? I'd like to determine if it is similar to an issue I'm seeing as well. Thank you! 3. You might all be right. It might also be a prisoner number if he was dressed as a prisoner in jail. When my girlfriend comes home I will see if she took a picture of him. She took a lot of pictures on Halloween Night in Greenwich Village. He was on MacDougal Street between Bleecker Street and West 3rd Street. When I saw all the responses to this posting I almost went back to see if he was still there. I used Countries of Ancestry very heavily to triangulate people who appear on the lists of known cousins (e.g. John Smith is on my list and also on the list of my second cousin), so I'm just downloading the pertinent lists. I'd be surprised if it was a DNA kit number, as it's not that long since I used a number in the 400000 range. However, if FTDNA has reached 631148, more power to them... Family inheritance: Advance- the ability to compare up to five relatives. Will this be gone or is it staying. 2. Inbox -email a. Invitations will be gone b. Will any of the emails be saved. for example, those from relative that are in contact and sharing. 3. Any major changes that I should be concerned about? 3. Marilyn At present all we know is what Christine is passing on 3rd hand. I think we need to wait until we can see how things actually work. I have downloaded and saved various countries of ancestry files for people I share with.I assume that sent introductions will be deleted and that we will need to resend introductions or sharing invitations to anonymous matches. It sounds like sharing request to public matches will stay in place and work pretty much like they do now. As with most software changes once it comes online I expect to see some glitches, hiccups and revisions. Country of Ancestry a. Matches will be gone b. I understand the new sharing and 2000 relatives.
