For anyone interested, PELEG is a biblical name. It's meaning is "division". It must have been a word whose meaning was well known (back then) because biblical writers in both Genesis and Chronicles felt a need to explain the reason for using that name. It was given because he was born at the time the earth was divided. (Ever look at how South America and Africa could fit together.) I think he was a great-grandson of Shem, the son of Noah, but I didn't look at that too closely. If you want to look it up, the references are Genesis 10:25 and I Chronicles 1:19. Lucy
