Can anyone add to this info? Thanks. Sue BARTLETT ROBERT BARTLETT, one of the early settlers of Hartford had a wife, Anne. He was slain in Northampton on March 14, 1676 by Indians, "when they broke through the palisades into the village. He was buried in the highway in front of his lot on or near the old jail lot. At the time of his burial, it was not considered safe to go to the burying ground to dig a grave and bury the body. He had an estate valued at 654 pounds." (T- Vol. IV, p. 44, 46) (T-36) They had four children born before they came to Northampton. Robert Bartlett was not always exemplary in his conduct.
