I am John C Van buskirk of Tully, NY 13159 I have lots of lines in the Hudson Valley of NY but I do have 2 major lines involving Connecticut Families. 1) the family of THOMAS BARNES OF HARTFORD em 1637 later settled at Farmington. his 2nd wife was Mary ANDREWS The known line is thru Ebenezer of Bristol m Deborah ORVIS, son Thomas m HANNAH DAY. son Timothy m MIRIAM MILLER son Silas m ANNA JUDD, son Elnathan m Rachel BROWN son Aaron m Lovina VAN DEUSEN Emma Florence m John Charles DAYTON Margaret m Leon VAN BUSKIRK John C me. I also am interested in the families of John ANDREWS of Farmington; of George ORVIS; of Robert DAY of Hartford, MILLER-William; Abraham;. Abraham; Miriam. of Thomas JUDD John. Joseph , Elnathan. The BROWNS appear to be from Rehoboth Mass. Timothy and Silas moved to West Stockbridge, Mass the VAN DEUSENS connect to my fathers Hudson River families. The DAYTONS were in New Haven and East Hampton L I NY 1640 while it still belonged to Connecticut. and some are still around there.. my line went to New Jersey. my other Connecticut family SNIFFEN / KNIFFEN George came to Stratford 1666 then moved to Hastings Ct which became Rye NY later. I found a little info on them in Stamford Ct library, they were in history of Greenwich CT, later in RYE Westchester Co NY history. My ancestor Reuben 1749-1838 was a revolutionary soldier from Westchester Co,his pension papers filed 1830 claims he was in Connecticut during the period of captivity 1779/1780 . His son William told census takers here in central ny 1850 that he was born in Litchfield ct 1776. never found the wife / mothers name. son William had wife Anna ?? b1780 CT all 3 buried here at Cardiff NY. Williams 2 sons HENRY b 1802 and JOHN 1805 in Cardiff NY. In George's family of 6 sons and many grandchildren there are 3 Reubens, I am not sure which is mine. There is a Shubel Kniffen also buried here in Tully NY one of the Reubens has a brother Shubal but its only speculation to say this is the same family.
