    2. Hi, I am new to the list and am searching for more information on my Revolutionary War era ancestor, Amasa Stevens (Stephens) born April 27, 1750 in Killingworth, CT. He died at the tender age of 30 on May 21, 1780 Johnstown, Tryon Co., (now Fulton County) New York. He was scalped and killed by British Sir John Johnson and Mohawk Chief Josef Brant's raid from Canada on the Mohawk Valley. Amasa's wife, Margaret (Putman) lost her husband, father and brother all on the same day. Upon investigating, I find that the LDS has his lineage going all the way back to approximate the year 100 A.D. as it links in with the Spencer Family and Henry the IV.. Hard to believe, but I am wondering if anyone can confirm the following lineage. His parents: Marcy (Mercy) Wellman October 06, 1726 - 1751, and Stiles Stevens born June 26, 1723, both in Killingworth, CT. Grandparents: Gideon Wellman and Concurrence Hull, both of Killingworth Great Grandparents were: William Jr. Wellman and Elizabeth Joy, New London and Killingworth Great Great Grandparents William Wellman and Elizabeth Spencer, of Hartford Gr Gr Gr Grandparents Thomas Spencer and Elizabeth Bearding, of Stotford, Bedfordshire, England, and Hartford Gerard Spencer Alice Whitebread, born 1571 continues to royal line, both of Bedfordshire, England Thanks for any assistance. You can also find Amasa's tragic story in the Frontiersmen of New York. Karen
