Dumas Malone, in _The Story of the Declaration of Independence_ [Oxford Univ Press 1954, 282pp, oversize] p83 says; "Towards the end of July, a child was baptized in East Windsor, CT by the name of 'Independence'...." Does anyone happen to know the full name of the child, the church where it was baptized, or whether anyone has ever contested that this babe was the first 'Independence'? thanks jim [BTW- This is about the 10th contemporary collection of bios that I've read on the signers since July.
