Hi, Well , I thought I had the Smith line solved, I was so happy I posted a Thank you, and told everyone I was moving on to the Terrel's. (The real Headache) and it got worse. Then again maybe better. Notes are below I had Esther Smith National Archives had born listed as 1802, CT. (no other info) parents as, Roger Smith and Alice Bingham . Roger Smith is the son of Isreal Smith and Esther Andrews. Now it is on to solving who, William Terrel, (Terrill) was that married Esther Smith, so far I have not been able to locate a marriage record on them. Esther Smith was from New Haven, CT. I have been told that some of the records were lost to a fire.. Clues like family names have not helped, in solving William Terrel mystery, as I found my great great grandfather did not have any Williams in his family. He had names like Le Grand Terrel, his name was James A. Terrel, and my Great Grandfather was also James A., there was Garland B. , Edward , Jane B., Lillie, Delores (first born) in 1853, and a Ida M. It is not to say that the names are not in his wife's family another hard name to research. I do find lots of these names in the Georgia, NC, and Virgina area, however Esther Smith was born in 1802 CT. Notes from the NARA also state William Terrel as being born in CT. Thanks to someone on the List I ruled out William son of James Terrel, and Sarah Bradshaw. This new information came my way, thanks to Midge of the CT list. 1. ESTHER3 SMITH (NEHEMIAH2, HUGH1) was born 1804 in Lyme, New London Co, CT, and died July 26, 1876 in Buffalo, NY. She married WILLIAM TYRRELL, Abt 1824 in Oxford, Chenango Co, NY. Child of ESTHER SMITH AND WILLIAM TYRRELL is: i. JAMES TYRRELL, b.* 1825, Oxford, Chenango Co, NY; d: May 12, 1906, m. ALINDA CRANNELL. Also is there anyone who knows of a Crannell line, Alinda was born in Unadilla, Otsego, NY. Moved to Chenago, I have found a Isaac Crannell on a Census for both places. *(note James A. was born in 1826. May 8th) I have papers and information form others with 5 different spellings of Terrel, they are Tyrrel, Tyrrell, Terrill, Terrel, Terrell. I found Esther on the 1850, 1860 Census in 1850 as Tyrrel, in 1860 as Terrill, along with James A. (son) I found no William Tyrrel listed in any of them, yet he was in Oxford in 1824 to get married, and James was born in 1826. Meaning that by 1840 Esther was a widow. Thanks to Midge, I know Esther had a Sister Eunice, a brother Nehemaih, and an Uncle Abel living in Chenago County. Please, does any one have any ideas? Thanks again for all who helped, and for those that may have new ideas. Wanda Clowater
