I have been corresponding with several individuals who are one-name researchers.--. ie they specialize in certain surnames with a goal of of "putting it all together..." Although there is a website of one-name researchers, I don't think any of them have signed up.. I have included the most common spelling of the surnames they are researching. Of course, there are many variations . Blakeslee, former co-operator of the Blakeslee Apple Orchard in Medina, died Sept. 18 in Houston, Texas, after an illness of two weeks. Blakeslee, while working as an entomologist with the Dept. of Agriculture from 1911 to 1918, developed a method to control the peach bore. Born in Medina Nov. 25, 1885, he was graduated from Medina high School and Ohio State University In 1915 he was married to Miss Cora Beal of Columbus. He returned to Medina in 1918 to operate the Blakeslee Apple Orchard with his sister, Mary. After working on the apple farm for 20 years, he returned to the Dept. of Agriculture and developed more effective controls over pests of men and animals. Blakeslee returned to Medina and the apple orchard in 1947. He operated it until its sale eight years ago. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Ted of Terra Linda, Calif., and Greg of Houston, and four grandchildren. He was a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church. Blakeslee and his wife were living with their son Greg, at the time of Blakeslee's death. Services will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Waite and Son Memorial home with the Rev. Roland Clark officiating. The body will be cremated. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Obituary Medina Gazette 3 August 1964. Page 1 Mary Blakeslee Rites Are Held on Monday Miss Mary Blakeslee, 89, a life resident of Medina township, died Friday at Medina Community Hospital followng a brief illness. She attended the Cleveland School of Art and taught there for one year. She also attended the Chigago School of Art and worked on sculpture for the St. Louis Exposition. Miss Blakeslee helped operate a hand metalworking studio in Cleveland before returning to her Medina township home in 1913 to manage the apple orchard and poultry farm. Her only near survivor is a brother, Elihu, with whom she made her home. There are also two nephew, Ted Blakeslee of Wasington State and Greg Blakeslee of Houston, Tex. Services in charge of Rev.
