    1. [GenConnecticut-L] BROWN FAMILIES FROM CONN. TO GA (1700s - 1820)
    2. I am researching the following Browns and trying to link them together. If anyone is connected to any Browns of Conn. Please see if this may be part of your family tree. ALEXANDER BROWN b. Conn. Married: Kisia Kn Children: Issac, William George. Died in Oglethorpe Co., GA 1811. ALEXANDER D. BROWN b. Conn 1800 Married: Emily Crawford b. 1805 NC on Feb. 9, 1825. 9 Children: Elijah, Margaret, Sarah, Alexander, Charles, James, Julia, William F. , Frank. This was taken from the 1850 Jones Co., GA Census. Also living in the home was Sarah Horne age 34 b. NY and her children Elizabeth age 3 and Samuel Horne age 1 both children born in GA. Alexander D. was a machinist. WILLIAM F. BROWN b. Conn. 1784 He probably came to GA in the early 1800s (1810-1820). Although I think he may have been married when he came to GA, he married a Mrs. Mary Biggs in 1819 in Hancock Co., GA. He finally settled in Carroll Co., GA and was listed on the GA census of 1870 as 86 yrs and living at Villa Rica, in Carroll Co., GA. One of Alexander D. Brown's children was named William F. Brown. He was born in 1825. He died in 1827. Later, they had another child and named it William F. (b. 1846) The importance of the name leads me to believe that Alexander D. Brown was the son of William F. Brown. At the moment, I have no proof, just a feeling. Alexander Brown of Oglethorpe Co., GA is, I believe, connected to this family in some way. I believe him to be an uncle or brother to William F. Brown. If anyone has even a hint of the connection of these people from Conn. I would gratefully appreciate you contacting me. I have no idea where they were from in Conn. although I have had a feeling they are from the New London, Conn area. I have done some research in the Library on Census list and this seems to be the most likely area of Conn. It is hard to get information on the GenWeb from Conn. There seem to be some problems in the very areas I am researching. Please help!! Nora Brown Acton
