Hi Connecticut rooters, I found what should be information on my William Reynolds and Elizabeth Mudge, with birth dates and birth places, but the children don't even begin to match with the information that I have, which were court proceedings in the Heir and Devisee Commission Council of Ontario, Canada. The children listed with the courts are as follows: "Sarah, the eldest daughter who died without issue; William now living in the Township of Oxford West, farmer, the eldest son and the second child; George the third child who left this Province during the late war (I am guessing they are referring to the War of 1812); Lucy the fourth child and now deceased; Richard the fifth child who died at New Orleans many years ago without having been married and without making his last Will and Testament; Nathaniel the sixth child who died without having been married or making a Will; John the seventh child now living in the Bay of Quinte; and Henry the eighth child now living in the township of Dorchester and District of London. There parents are William Reynolds and Elizabeth Mudge according to these court papers. I know that Elizabeth Mudge was the daughter of Micah Mudge and Lucy Spencer, that has been established. What I found in the world family tree is that Elizabeth had been married twice to two different Reynolds, and while I question that conclusion, I am not going to rule that one out at this time. However, my question before the group is how the names that are given in the FTM-WFT report could be so different from the names given in the documents from the courts in Canada where the family moved in about 1794? The FTM-WFT report shows Elizabeth b. 28 May 1750, Sharon, Litchfield Co., CT (her mother died there, so this well could be the correct date for her birth and place of her birth) and William Reynolds, b. 6 July 1735 in Wetherfeild, Hartford Co., CT. They have circa 1770 as a possible marriage date. They have the death period for William as 1780-1827, but it has been established that William died between 30 Oct 1809 and 4 Jan 1832 in Ontario, Canada. The WFT has listed as the children of Elizabeth and William only a few: John Reynolds, b. 1766, died between 1767-1866, but I know that he was an Episcopal-Methodist Minster and lived to be 102 years of age, there are records to prove this. Pyler, b. 1768, died 1769-1858 (I have no records showing this name attached to this family), William, Jr., 1772, died 1804-1863 (I have court documents that show William, Jr., court as late as 22 March 1837..... Any suggestion as to the birth information on William, Sr., Elizabeth as being correct? What about the differences in the given names? I know my information is correct, could the information coming from the WAFT be that far off? Cheryl
