In PORTRAIT OF A RIVER TOWN, 1984, Cunningham and Warner, pg. 184, I found the following in reference to the Alvin Brainerd House, Candlewood Hill Road: "In 1867 the house was sold to Elisha Lester and remained in that family until the turn of the century." There apparently were lots of Smiths in Haddam, but so far have not found any reference to a Mary Ann. Jan Carol Lassen wrote: > > Someone spoke about the Smith's of New Haven, CT.
