My mother's parents: Julian Leon GOLINSKY, son of Leon GOLINSKY and Pauline (maiden name unknown) was born on April 1, 1888 in the city of Kupel, Rivnens'ka Oblast, Rokytnyansky District, Volyhynia (Wolyn) Guberniya, Russia. Julian's mother died when Julian was only seven months old. At the age of 85 Julian died on April 4, 1973 in Community Hospital, Cobleskill, New York. Antonina Anna CZAPSKA, daughter of Jacob CZAPSKI and Bictoria KUSDIOSKA was born on March 16, 1891 in the village of Kupel, Rivnens'ka Oblast, Rokytnyansky District, Volhynia (Wolyn) Guberniya, Russia. At the age of 91, Antonina died on May 22, 1982 in Bridgeport, Fairfield County, Connecticut. Julian married Antonina CZAPSKA February 17, 1911 in Kupel and their first child Catherine was born one year later on February 17, 1912. Julian, Mark BOHACZ and Tit RUSIN departed Rotterdam, South Holland, The Netherlands on February 19, 1913 aboard the SS Campanello. After nine days Julian, Mark and Tit arrived at Ellis Island, New York on February 28, 1913. According to the ship manifest Julian was 23 years old, married, his occupation was laborer and he was able to read and write. His nationality was Russian and his race of people was Polish. Their last permanent residence was Kupili. Julian listed his wife, Antonia GOLINSKI, from Kupili, Russia as his nearest relative in country where alien came. Their final destination was to Julian's brother-in-law Piotr BOHACZ (a shoemaker), 116 West Albany Street, Oswego, New York. Piotr had arrived in the United States on April 13, 1912 and was Mark's brother and Tit's cousin. Antonina and Catherine arrived October 18, 1913 - destination Oswego New York. Antonina was a housewife and according to the Oswego City Directory "John GOLINSKI, matchmaker" resided at 4 Lawrence Place. Sophia and Apolonia (Pauline) were born on June 4, 1914 in Oswego, Oswego County New York Julian's application for citizenship (1940) states that the family relocated to Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County Pennsylvania in 1914. No month is given. Since Sophia died August 20, 1914 in Oswego, New York they must have relocated between August and December. Bruno, the first born son, was born on November 3, 1915 or November 15 according to his (delayed registered) Certification of Birth. Julian's citizenship application also stated that the family relocated to Bridgeport, Fairfield County Connecticut March 1916. The GOLINSKY family belonged to St. Joseph's Polish National Catholic Church on 45 California Street. Jane, Helen, Steve, cousins Joey and Eddie were baptized there. Helen is buried in St. Joseph's cemetery in Stratford. The 1917 Bridgeport City Directory list GOLINSKY, Julian shoemaker at 1408 Boston Avenue and home was located at 1915 Seaview Avenue. On November 24, 1936 at the age of 45 Antonina applied for her Social Security number. She was employed by The Bassick Company on 38 Austin Street and her residence was 915 Hallett Street. Antonina obtained a divorce in Fairfield County Connecticut on April 5, 1940. On November 6, 1948 Antonia married Stephen BRATKOWSKY in Bridgeport Connecticut. Stephen was born May 24, 1898 in Soroy, Russia. Stephen was the owner of a bicycle hardware store (Lenox Cycle Company) located on Washington Avenue.
