    1. Re: [GenCT] COLLEEN'S JULY CHALLENGE
    2. David P. Wilson
    3. Hi, My earliest ancestor to come to CT was William Lyon. He arrived in Roxbury from England in 1635 and in 1686 was one of the original settlers of "New Roxbury", now Woodstock,CT. It is unclear whether he actually came here, but some of his sons did, as did some of his grandsons. William's name is on the list of settlers and he owned land. lineage to me is as follows: Son John stayed in the Roxbury area. William, son of John lived in Woodstock. His son, Moses, married Grace Child (still a prominent family in Woodstock)and had Ephraim. He married Esther Bennet and was an early settler of Ashford. They had Amasa, the father of General Nathaniel Lyon who was the first Union General to be slain in the Civil War, in 1861. Ephraim and Esther also had Esther, who married Ezra Arnold. They had Mary Caswell Arnold, who married Orrin Wilson. They are my great-grandparents. Dave David P.
