Carole, I saw your post about Porter and Graves. I am not writing about them but you mentioned in yuor e-mail that you have the Stiles book volume 2 of Anciend Wethersfield, CT. Would it be possible for you to please see if in that book there is mention of Joisiah Stillmans and Comfort Robbins Stillman family? I was given pages from the book a few years ago, on page 674 at the bottom of it and top of 675 family 11 is mentioned, Lt John Stillman and Rachel Robbins. Lt. John is Josiahs father and Josiah is called Joseph in there but has the same date of birth as the Josiah the Rev. War ancestor. Do you think there might be mention of Josephs and Comfort Robbins family? I need to prove that Josiah is Williams father, the Stillman book by Francis Stillman is not accepted by the Daughters of American Revolution as proof of the father-son relationship because that book lacks sources or I did not get a complete copy of it. William was born in 1777 in Wethersfield, CT, married twice Betsy and then Sarah Stebbins and died 3/1/1841 in Kirkland, NY. If you could help me I would apprecaite it please. Comfort Robbins wife of Josiah was born 2/16/1738 in Wethersfield, died 2/21/1804 in Westmoreland, Oneida Co, NY. Thank you for your help. Susan DeHart
Hi Susan, Did I state the book was Ancient Wethersfield, if so I do apologize, as I meant Ancient Windsor of which I do have vol 1 and 2., which were written by Stiles. I know Stiles wrote, co- authored, I believe, the Wethersfield books. There are mentions of John Stillman and Mary Wolcott and then Lucy Wolcott marrying Samuel Robbins. also an Anna Stillman who married a Stiles. If you can hold on for a short time, I will try to get to the library in the next town, as they have the two volumes of Wethersfield, will copy what I can find for you. I make plans to do something and someone else always has another plan for me. That is my reward for having a large family<vbg>. If not this week, I should have a free night next week, so will try very hard to get there. If you do not hear from me, please write and "rattle my cage", as this old memory is getting worse by the day. I am printing out your post and will take it with me. Hopefully you will hear from me soon. Carole in CT
