January 1646/47 is correct. Written this way does not mean 1646 or 1647, it means what it says. So as to understand, the old calendar's new year was at the end of March. Dates written in this way were for the year January 1646 but since January was after December 1646, it would be for, as we now understand it, January 1647. England and the Colonies did not adapt the Julian Calendar for quite some number of years, because of course, England was under the infulence of the Church of England and of course Julian was Pope Julian of the Roman Catholic Church.
