I wrote 4 years ago for information on the Maleys who are buried there and never got more than a promise. I'd sent a donation and followed up with a number of calls, with no luck. I would love to see that transcription go online. There is a lot of information held in the old ledgers that is very difficult to obtain through the busy folks at the St. Lawrence Cemetery Office. Even the genealogist I had hired had a hard time getting info. There must be more folks out there who need information from these records? The Barbour Collection does not help those whose ancestor's were not wealthy enough to buy headstones, or have inscriptions for all buried in the family plot. Sherry Faughnan Doherty www.faughnan.org
For 15 years now I have been getting a little info at a time. I now live in Maine and have made the trip about 3 times there. Once I made the trip up from Virginia. I have also hired genealogist who told me that it was difficult for them to see the records. One visit I was able to get a lot of info from the ledgers, but for the most part they're very busy in the office and don't have time to answer all of the request. -----Original Message----- From: Melody [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, July 05, 2004 12:31 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [GenCT] St. Bernard's, West Haven / Transcription Project I wrote 4 years ago for information on the Maleys who are buried there and never got more than a promise.
