    3. Hello, I haven't mentioned my ancestors* lately. And, I don't have time this morning to offer a summary. But, I can say that I am still interested in the 3 DEXTER brothers who left Rhode Island in the 1780's and moved to Killingly, CT. I am participarly interested in the descendants of the DEXTER / ALLEN family, and the son, Marvin DEXTER, who also married an ALLEN lady (they were not directly related). Marvin DEXTER only had 2 children, a daughter, and then, a son, John DEXTER. (There were 2 John DEXTER's in the town.) John married Mary Anna CLARK from Westport, MA, and they lived on the DEXTER Farm. John and "Molly" DEXTER had 3 daughters there, but one died at Age 3 and one died at Age 14. The surviving daughter, Clara, married Abner YOUNG. Abner and Clara YOUNG also lost a young daughter, and had their son, Earle, survive to adulthood, marry, and move to New Haven, I believe. Around 1885 John and Molly DEXTER moved to Melrose, MA, and in 1892 (while in their 50's) adopted a little girl. That little girl grew up to become my grandmother. My "educated guess" is that the DEXTER's were her grandparents. All the information I know is in the archives of the CT Lists. Betty (near Lowell, MA) * It is only an "educated guess" that the adopted child was the granddaughter of John and Molly DEXTER. I believe that Mrs. Clara YOUNG back in Killingly had an "unwanted pregnancy" in 1888. She delivered "someplace" in Feb. 1889, and arranged for the baby to be "found" in Boston, MA, possibly at Age 3 mos. (A very long, complicated story - which I've told on the MA and CT Lists many times.)
