Hi everyone, I'm new to the list and since I live in BC, Canada, I really need some help with my research in Connecticut. I would like to find birth information for Douglas and Dorothy Wilkins. A copy of the 1910 Census for Danbury, Fairfield, CT shows both children aged 1-1/2 (twins), place of birth: Connecticut. The parents are Cyril Herbert E. and Inez W. (Long) Wilkins and they had been married 7 years at the time of the census. Can anyone help my search for birth records for these two children? Any information would be appreciated. Many thanks, Elizabeth Abbott New Westminster, BC
Hi Elizabeth, I forgot to say that I have a Samuel WILKINS (~1775 to ~1850??) as one of my ancestors. Many of the WILKINS families in 1700's New England can be traced back to the patriarch, Bray WILKINS, who arrived in Middleton, MA, in the 1600's. I'm curious if your Cyril WILKINS can be traced back to him, or did he arrive from England in the 1800's? Betty (near Lowell, MA) FYI: I know this isn't related to Connecticut, but I'm sure other researchers can relate to one of my two "solidly built, concrete-block walls, put together with reinforced cement !" I have my Samuel WILKINS reportedly born in "Maine" around 1775, with no known parents. I have a William WILKINS, living in "Maine" between 1775 and 1795, with no known family. I have a William WILKINS, born in 1746 in Middleton, MA, who "disappears" right around 1775. My "hypothesis" is that this William WILKINS in MA, after he and his wife lost two children, left MA to move to the area around Augusta, ME, around 1775. And, having only one surviving daughter, had another child, Samuel, while living in "Maine." This William had a brother, David WILKINS, who moved to Lewiston, ME, with his wife and children, and that is not too far from Augusta. If the William in MA remained in MA, then he had no descendants, as his only daughter, Eunice, married but had no children. If the William in ME was the William from MA, and he was the father of Samuel, then he had many descendants in northern Maine. :o) (Maine did not become a state until 1820.) ----- Original Message ----- From: "elizabeth Abbott" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, November 05, 2005 1:02 PM Subject: Douglas and Dorothy WILKINS - born abt. 1908 > Hi everyone, > > I'm new to the list and since I live in BC, Canada, I really need some > help with my research in Connecticut. > > I would like to find birth information for Douglas and Dorothy Wilkins.
