    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: mjmoser Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.connecticut.unknown/4734.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: You did not mention the time period or approximate locations for which you are looking for vital records. Vital Records have been kept by the individual towns since the mid 1600's. Many of the early records have been compiled for the various towns and are collectively known as the Barbour Collection. The time period covered is the mid 1600's to approximately the mid 1800's, depending on the town. Not all towns were included in the Barbour Collection. Modern Records, from the mid 1800's to today can be found in the individual towns. For anyone doing genealogy research in Connecticut, I suggest you check out the CT State Library website, the History and Genealogy section. It is a good site for information on available resources, including the resources that are available in the state library.
