Hello list,   If Vermont was first known as New Connecticut, was it then still at the beginning thought of as part of Connecticut "OLD"?  It was just a thought.  For around the time frame of 1775 to about 1810 the influx of the people from Stratford, Connecticut to Sandgate, Vermont was extermly high.  In my research it said that was the time frame of Sandgate's highest influx of immigration. And then it dropped off as people spread to New York.  Was this because of the War of 1812 or because of other items?  I have been a long time trying to understand why they would leave Stratford for Sandgate.  Does the list have any ideas on this?  I did find that several people of Stratford did begin and settle Sandgate.   Regards, Ezziej Bromwich   Patterson descendent In God We Trust
