There is a Barlow Cemetery in the town of Fairfield, Franklin County, Vermont. My Butler ancestor from Connecticut ended up there... There are links to Franklin County VT cemeteries at http://www.interment.net/us/vt/franklin.htm Barlow may be an early cemetery; my ancestor lived 1771-1860. I have racked my brain and everywhere that I can possibly search for help in finding the second wife of Thomas Patterson, grandson of Andrew Patterson, of Stratford, CT. Thomas Patterson was first married to Sarah French daughter of Gamaiel French. She died in 1772 assumably from childbirth of their son Thomas. Thomas senior then married Abigail ?? and had several children by Thomas. His will states of Weston. His will never stated her family name...but he continually mentions his beloved Abigail in his will. After Thomas, sr death Abigail eventually moved to Sandgate, VT. And that is where one of her sons Abel lived with his wife Zady Bristol. Their son died between 1800/1810. That is the last information I have on either Abigail or Zady Bristol Patterson. Is there anyone that can aide me? I have searched Conneticut and Vermont along with New York where the rest of her children seemed to live until 1860. Regards Ej Bromwich

Thanks so much for letting me know about these articles. I'll add them to my to do list for Connecticut. All these little items or "gossip" are great when you can find them. Try using the message board for New Haven County, Connecticut. Naugatuck and Waterbury are both in New Haven County. Find out if someone can look it up for you. What specific information are you looking for? At the same time include the census information you have found---names, dates, places. Give strangers to your family something to work with. Sometimes when people give me enough information, and they need something I can easily get, I will take an hour a do the task. When and if I do this, depends upon my schedule and if I have the time. You have her date of death. You can get a copy of her death certificate. When I have really been stuck, I have contacted a local genealogy society and asked is there was a member of thier society who would be willing to retrieve what I need from a library or local town records. Maybe someone would help you. In exchange, the genealogy society usually asks for a donation. I figure, if I am going to have to pay someone to do the work, I might as well send the money to a genalogy society. One thing I believe very strongly in, is that if I want others to help me. I should be willing to give some of my time helping others. I will check the postings of a person to see how serious are they about their research. I have had people help me because I was generous in sharing the information I had. My discovery; Relatives don't respond because they recognize my ancestor, They respond because they recognize their ancestor in my posting. And I give them several names, dates and places to recognize. The obituary might also be available in a Waterbury paper. Don't overlook contacting the Waterbury and Naugatuck public libraries. It does not hurt to ask? Your posting on the Unknown board was forwarded to the GenConnecticut Rootsweb Mailing list. This routine now for many Rootsweb message boards. Hi Lisa, I read with interest, your mention of Thompson and North Grosvenordale. I grew up in Thompson, and at one time, actually submitted articles to the Putnam Patriot and the Windham County Observer. These were little items, about the comings and goings of the various townsfolk, usually three or four lines long, perhaps longer for more newsworthy events. People would call me if they had something to put in the paper, and I would get a few cents a line for typing it up and delivering it to the newspaper office. If you can find these papers, perhaps at the Putnam Library, they are full of tidbits of local gossip about Thompson, and other communities surrounding Putnam. Me and my Mom did it, and it was lots of fun. Marilyn - I'll check it out. One of these days I'll find some time to get to the state library. It's on my list of places to go..... I just love these digitized newspapers that you can research from home at anytime. In addition, searching a digitized record brings up all kinds of things that you weren't even looking for. I am researching Martin Pinney whom I believe was married to Elizabeth Haskell. Family Search says he was born about 1766 in Windsor, Hartford Co., CT to Martin and Hannah (Phelps) Pinney. The IGI gives them nine children. I have found him in 1790 in Windsor, Hartford Co., CT; in 1800 in Thetford, Orange Co., VT; in 1810 in Hartford, Windsor Co., VT; in 1820 in Windsor, Windsor Co., VT; in 1830 still in Windsor, VT; in 1840 still in Windsor, VT. I have not found him in any census after that. I did find a son Haskell N. Pinney in 1850 listed in Washington, Clermont Co., OH; in 1860 Haskell is living in Edinburgh, Johnson Co. IN. Does anyone recognize these people? Joann Nichols
