    1. [GenConnecticut-L] USGenWeb Norwich and Plymouth
    2. Susan Taylor
    3. I'm proud to announce: 1. The commencement of a new USGenWeb site for Norwich, New London Co., CT: Norwich, CT Genealogy http://home.att.net/~SGTAYLOR1/norwich.html Norwich was first settled in 1659 by Saybrook (now in Middlesex Co.) people led by John MASON and Rev. James FITCH. Sections of Norwich became the towns of Preston, Griswold, Borzah, Franklin, Lisbon and Sprague. Norwich people were some of the early settlers and founders of several Windham County towns. Most of its early families can trace their roots back to MA. Soooo Norwich should be of interest to many with CT and MA ancestral lines. 2. The USGenWeb project for Plymouth, Plymouth Co., MA has moved. It got too big thanks to the very successful Ancient Landmarks of Plymouth Project (ALPP) - online transcription of Part II, Genealogical Register, of Davis' Ancient Landmarks of Plymouth. RootsWeb has graciously supplied free webspace for the town of Plymouth: Plymouth, MA Genealogy http://www.rootsweb.com/~macplymo/ As Plymouth was the "opening bell" of immigration to New England, this site should be of interest to all with New England roots. Do support the RootsWeb: http://www.rootsweb.com/ which makes possible many of the great genealogy mail lists, provides webspace for USGenWeb sites and has many other wonderful genealogy projects. He was married to Deborah Gardner, (d. of Bethueal Gardner from Nantucket, MA and Nancy Havens from Long Island, b.1766-d.1862) They were probably married by 1794, when their first daughter Eliza was born. The 1810 census for Nantucket has Deborah as the widow of Abial. Their last child was born in 1802 in Long Island. Thank you, Michelle

    1. [GenConnecticut-L] Episcopal Cemetery- Cheshire correct name?
    2. Hi Does anyone know the correct name for the Episcopal Cemetery in Cheshire CT. I have checked with switchboard.com and the GNIS for a cemetery in Cheshire with this name. The GNIS listed no cemeteries in Cheshire. I have a note from the town clerk of Cheshire stating that he forwarded the information of my gg grandfather Frederick Amos Moss, who died 1881-2 to the sexton of this cemetery. I don't see in my grandmother's records where she followed up or received a reply. Thanks Cary

Amy - it's actually not the accuracy I'm questioning - I'm really looking for more information on individuals who married into the family and I'm having a hard time finding anything (Jane Sherril, Hannah Herring). I thought Westbrook was using circular logic by citing a published genealogy. - Barbara

    3. My great-grandfather left Ireland during the famine (about 1845) and settled in Lancashire, England. There was a large Irish population in Liverpool. All of his male children (born in the 1850s) left England for America where they felt there were better opportunities. Maybe this same held true for many other Irish families. Ellie
