    1. [GenConnecticut-L] Born in CT but don't know where...
    2. I have recently learned (from a 1850 NY census report) that my great-great grandfather, Russell William Roscoe (also spelled "Ruscoe" or "Rusco") was born in CT in 1779. I have no idea where in CT his family might have been nor any information about his family before him. Does anyone have a neat suggestion--or any suggestion!-- of how I might track him down. Any thoughts will be appreciated. Thanks, Kathy S schzhanik@aol.com

    2. In a message dated 5/21/99 8:31:42 PM PST, JReyno1920@aol.com writes: << It was interesting- my ancestor, Peleg Edwards >> Have to share a chuckle. I, too, have several CT ancestors with the first name of "Peleg" (Peleg Redfield, et al). Name seemed to be pretty common in CT back in Revolutionary days. Last week I was surfing a Personal Ancestry File on the new LDS site, and found Peleg Redfield listed as "Pegleg".

    1. [GenConnecticut-L] Ct Rev. Soldiers
    2. It was interesting- my ancestor, Peleg Edwards and maybe even his father, were not listed on the CT revolutionary list mentioned in one of the last emails. Peleg was a prisoner of war and is in a book about Ct soldiers and sailors. His dad, if I have the right William Edwards also served and is not listed. Valerie

    1. [GenConnecticut-L] Two great resources on-line today
    2. Hello all: I wanted to share two great on-line sources that became available today: 1. Connecticut Revolutionary War Military Lists, 1775-1783 Despite being one of the smallest colonies to participate in the American Revolutionary War, Connecticut fielded a large number of soldiers. This database is a list of those men who volunteered to fight for the colonial cause. Commissioned by the Connecticut Historical Society and originally printed in 1889, it was revised and expanded in 1901. This transcription of that second edition lists nearly 13,000 men who fought against Great Britain. In addition to providing the enlistee's name, this collection also provides residence, rank, and unit information. Among the most comprehensive volumes on Connecticut Revolutionary War soldiers, this can be an enlightening source of information to researchers of Connecticut ancestors. Bibliography: Johnston, Henry P. and Iris Rose Guertin, eds. "Collections of the Connecticut Historical Society Revolution Rolls and Lists, 1775-1783, Vol. VIII." Hartford: Connecticut Historical Society, 1901, 1999. To search this database, go to: http://www.ancestry.com/ancestry/search/3779.htm Connecticut Resources in the Online Store: http://shop.ancestry.com/ancestry/bconnecticutb.html 2. 1850 U.S. CENSUS IMAGES GenealogyLibrary.com is now making more than 200,000 images from the 1850 U.S. Census easily available for you to download, and we will make more available soon. View the images in your Internet browser, print them out, or save them on your computer for use in other software programs. Avoid long expensive trips to the National Archive offices and Family History Centers, and instead enjoy researching your family history in the comfort of your home. 2. Dear searchers, I was recently given information about William STONE who married Sybil FENN on Mar 16, 1811, Orange, New Haven, CT. She said that there was a historical book of Milford that had more information that would be of interest to me. My computer crashed.......need I say more. A lot of the favorite spots got lost and that email letter with the name of the book, is gone forever. If anyone has any idea what book it could be I would really appreciate the information. Thanks Jacqueline

    2. MARGAREt DAVIS
    3. Hello Everybody, I hope someone can help me with this riddle of my very elusive family. Today I received a death certificate for a baby born in East Windsor, Ct. He died in 1882 of Cholera Infantum. However, he was buried in Pittsfield, Ma., with the rest of my family. His name was Jacob BENCE. There are two other Jacobs that I know of and one was my g.grandfather. The two I have, died in 1887 and 1929. I had no idea that any member of my family had resided in Ct.(at least on that side). I hope someone will help me figure this out. Where should I look first? Thank you again. Margaret in Nv.
