Hi Graeme, I spend more time backing up than some folks may wish to, but when I had my drive failure, I lost no nothing. I also use a ZIP drive for backup. I keep two sets; one at home, the other in my bank safe deposit box. At the close of each month, I backup all my data files, including my bookmarks and email addresses and take the ZIP cartridges to the safe deposit box where I exchange one set for the other. That set which I bring home is immediately updated. Additionally, I backup, almost daily, my genealogy data on what I call my desktop cartridge. As to fire (or vandalism), I have been putting as much "stuff" on my 6 MG drive as I can, throwing away paper. I still have far more paper than I want, but I can replace most of that...I think. If I lost what data I have, I could not start over. Good hunting, Bob Graeme Card wrote: > > Sorry listers (not exactly FH related) but.... but dimwit that I am, I managed to wipe my hard drive. including my carefully built FILER database and list of contacts. -- Robert H. & Doris A. "Notable Kin" by Gary Boyd Roberts is now out. In "Volume Two it talks about Barnum and Tom Thumb. I am interested in what the book has to say about "PT's" ancestry, if indeed, that is covered. I am not interested if the point is to connect Tom with PT. TYIA Allen John Mallory allen.mallory@ibm.net
Has anyone gotten a family tree printed anywhere in Central CT? I'd like to get one branch printed for a family reunion, and don't have any idea of where to go. It would only be about 19" x 60". I'm using FTM. Thanks, Beth

Hello Listers, Is it inappropriate to ask a fellow lister for look ups on the Connecticut death index? At the moment I'm not subscribing to ancestry.com. If it is, I'm sorry for the blunder. I'm looking for: Elsie Schultz died November 11, 1940 August Schultz died October 1941 Annie Schultz died March 29, 1951 I've written to both Middletown and Cromwell looking for death records but with no luck. Most of the family come from that area. I can't figure out how they fit in but they were on a lists of family deaths that I had. Thanks, Karen
