I am looking for an obituary for a great uncle who lived, at least until 1960, in Cheshire, CT. I don't know when he died and haven't found him in the CT death index or the Social Security Death Index (he was a railroader which probably explains his absence from there). I'm guessing he moved out of CT before he died but because of his roots in the area it is possible that an obituary for him would have been printed in his home town of Cheshire. Can anyone tell me what newspaper might have printed obituaries for Cheshire from 1960 until 1990 (he was born in 1893)? Or is anyone familiar with the Seth Lee Cowles family who might have information? Thanks for any help. cathy cowles sharbaugh cathy ô¿ô

Hi I am visiting in CT trying to do research that I can't do from home. In visiting the New Haven Historical Society, I found information on my ancestors in the city directories. The addresses were listed as "Easton, Highwood" and "Warner, Highwood". I also found reference to "Warner, Hamden". My conclusion was that Highwood is another name for Hamden but, what does the Easton and Warner refer to? These were found in turn of the century directories. Other residents were listed with house and street addresses. Is there anyone in the area who can tell me where Easton & Warner are? Thank you so much, June
I don't forward much ... and usually check it out first ... this is real, seen at the web page below, and told about on TV ... it's giving GTE and MS a real headach ... read it over and watch out for it to arrive. I haven't seen it yet .... but expect to with the number of emails I get per day. I wouldn't send this to the groups like this normally .... but I've seen HAPPY99 too many times from the big groups .... just want to warn everyone and hopefully this will be stopped and stop spreading. If you're unhappy with my post ... (partly I say TOO BAD) ... please email me directly and don't post you're complaints to the groups ... Forwarding wastes bandwidth.....and all those > >> >>>>> etc are hard to wade through. ****** This is a 32bit Worm that travels by sending email messages to users. It drops the file explore.exe and modifies either the WIN.INI (Win9x) or modifies the registry (WinNT). This worm attempts to invoke the MAPI aware email applications as in MS Outlook, MS Outlook Express, MS Exchange and confirmed in Netscape-mail. This worm replies to messages received with an email message with the following body: "I received your email and I shall send you a reply ASAP. Till then, take a look at the attached zipped docs." The subject line is not constant as the message is a reply. The worm (named "zipped_files.exe" is attached, with a file size of 210,432 bytes. The file has a Winzip icon which is designed to fool unsuspecting users to run it as a self-extracting file. User who run this attachment will be presented with a fake error message that says: "Cannot open file: it does not appear to be a valid archive. If this file is part of a ZIP format backup set, insert the last disk of the backup set and try again. Please press F1 for help." The Worm has a payload; immediately after execution it will search all mapped drives for the following file types, and when it finds them, it will erase their contents and the file will be zero bytes: .c, .cpp, .h, .asm, .doc, .xls, or .ppt So everyone, just DON'T run anything that you get until you have scanned the file with a virus checker, or KNOW the person that sends it is clean and doesn't send viris or worms. If in doubt, DELETE the file. Hi! I am once again looking for any connection to my line! My Larrabee family lived in the Preston, New London, CT area during most of the 1700's. Some members of the family moved to Cambridge, VT and Rensaeller Co., NY--so I think they may have had connections in those areas. Theophilus Larrabee married Hannah Scribner/Scribbins in the mid 1700's. Is anyone familiar with her name? This was passed down to me by someone who had done a bare bones genealogy ending at that generation. I cannot locate a marriage record, or any record with her name so I cannot be positive it is correct but everything else passed on by the other researcher has been correct. I am also looking for any connections to the following Larrabee's: Nathaniel Larrabee b.<1732> Stonington?, CT d.? Zurviah or Zervia Larrabee b.1759 Preston, CT m.Rufus Park Hannah Larrabee b.1761 Preston, CT Nathan Larrabee b. 1766 Preston,CT Lucy Larrabee b.1769 Preston, CT Lydia Larrabee b.1771 Preston, CT m.Nehemiah Peterson, Jr. Esther Larrabee b.1774 Preston, CT Ezra Bingham Larrabee b. 1776 Preston, CT Elisha Larrabee b. 1782 Preston, CT Can anyone help? Is any one researching the DIODATE family. There is a genealogy collection at the Lyme Historical Society which mentions that the DIODATE family had connections to Old Lyme. Also according to the IGI there were several DIODATE families in the New Haven area. I am looking for a connection between the BECKWITH or ROGERS families to DIODATE family. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Joyce
