    1. [GenConnecticut-L] BENCE/BENZ
    2. MARGAREt DAVIS
    3. Hello, Please forgive me if I am repeating myself but I really need help on this one. I have a death certificate for Henry Jacob BENCE, age 5 months, d. July 28, 1882, East Windsor, Conn. It gives East Windsor as his place of residence but it does NOT give parents names. I have found that Windsor is a close to if not part of Hartford. To add to the mystery, the death certificate is filed in Pittsfield, Ma, and that is where he is buried. Copies from the cemetary show that Jacob BENCE purchased the plot at the same time. I asked the Pittsfield City Clerk, why the certicate was filed there and she said it may have been a transfered (?) certificate. Does anybody have any ideas on how I can more information on his parents, residence address etc???? I did contact the State Library about two months ago and have not received a reply as of yet. Sorry that this is so long. Margaret in Nv

The State Library would not have anything on your babe except perhaps a death notice and or the family in a 'city' directory. East Windsor at that time would have been a commerce place with shipping and mills. Perhaps the family was new to the area, having family and roots in Pittsfield; also a mill town [I think]. The people at the East Windsor Town Hall are very helpful - or so I have always felt. good luck, susan moore windsor, ct

    3. Hi everyone...I just sent a letter to the list re: BETHIA STEELE.. I should of added Shepard Families of New England was compiled by Gerald Faulkner SHEPARD and edited by Donald Lines Jacobus.. I bought my copys from The New Haven Colony Historical Society of New Haven, printed 1972 by the Van Dyck Printing Company, North Haven, CT. Also on page 19 of Vol 2 in the footnotes it says, "The MAYFLOWER Index (2d ed., 1960) traces lines from Bethiah STEELE through sons John and James "SHEPHERD" and Stephen "SHEPARD." Not knowing when Bethiah (STEELE) SHEPARD died and when Samuel married Eunice BUTLER it makes it difficult to put all of Samuel's children (he was father of 9 ch) with the correct wife. We know that Bethiah was mother of 3 born Hartford, CT. 1. [GenConnecticut-L] Hezekiah Lewis
    2. Does anyone have any info on a Hezekiah LEWIS whose wife was Hannah DEWEY, living either in Suffield or Grandby, CT who died ca 1844. I am particularly interested in finding William LEWIS, b ca 1808. I found a will at the CT State Library for Hezekiah which listed a son William (said he went south). At the time, I was in a hurry so did not make a photo copy of the will. Seems I'm always doing that and then discovering later I should have copied something. I did not even make good notes about where I found the will. So if anyone has anything on Hezekiah or William I would really appreciate hearing from you. The William I am looking for was born ca 1808 in CT (Have no idea where). Married 30 Oct 1830, Sarah (Sally) Ann LEEK in Morris Co. NJ. Went to Ohio and then to Davis Co. IA. I have info on his children, but do not when or where he died. Hope to hear from someone who can give me some help. Thanks. Betty Gregory BGreg3116@aol.com Edmond, OK

    1. [GenConnecticut-L] YOUNGS and Is there a Kethaysomen in CT?
    2. Hi CT listers: I have learned of a record of a marriage which took place in March 1787 in Southold, Long Island between Timothy BISHOP and Anna YOUNGS. The church records indicated they were both "of Kethaysomen." The Timothy I am searching for was born in Durham, CT in 1764. This Anna YOUNGS has not been able to be placed by any of the reasearchers working on the YOUNGS of Long Island. Does anyone know of a town in CT that is or was called Kethaysomen --or something similar? Does this Anna YOUNGS fit in to any CT Youngs families? All leads appreciated! Sharon Smith
