Hi all, I just returned from a research trip in CT and accidently found a reference to one of my ancestors being Prophetess in the Degree of Pocahontas. Does anyone know anything about this organization and if it is still in existance? The reference was found in an 1896 New Haven City Directory. It also referred to the Shaumpishuh Council #3. I would be extremely grateful if anyone could fill me in on any info. Thank you so much. June
Highwood is or was town in New Haven County. Patricia
Was Lydia Gilbert the 'witch' who was hung in Hartford - where Trinity College now stands?
I am looking for help with the families mentioned above. I see a Daniel Gozzard to son Nathanial Gozzard, circa early 1700's. I'm really curious about info RE: Ebenezer Gozzard to son, Ebenezer Jr. circa later 1700's. Ebenezer Jr. married Mrs. Ashach? Hayes, and thier children are said to be a Sterling Goddard, Archelaus, Clarissa. Sterling is a likely candidate for my mother's lineage. However, apparently there is no mention of this line in either of the Goddard books. Anyone have any notes on these folks? I'm out in CA, with few resources. Any help is GREATLY appreciated! Thank you...for telling us...not that I am proud of the fact, but the trials were held in our 10th granduncle Nathaniel INGERSOL house.... how awful.. He was the s/o Richard and Anne/Agnes (LANGLEY) INGERSOL. I have a booklet that I have had for several years, telling the story of the Witchcraft Hysteria of 1692..by Leo Bonfanti, published in 1971 by Pride Publications, Inc. Box 13 Wakefield, MA 01880.. in case any of you are interested. It is only 64 pages, but full of history of each person accused.
