Please forgive me for sending to the entire list but didn't know how else to do this....Seems to me that there are several from San Diego on this list...Am wondering if there is some way we could pool resources benefit the FHC in MV at the same time... Wonder if we might have mutual areas of research....The Library volunteers don't seem to welcome mssgs on the bulletin board. Pls email me privately if you'd like to share resources. ___________________________________________________________________ Get the Internet just the way you want it. Please forgive me for sending my S.O.S. to these three lists, some of you may get this more than once...I am sorry, but this is so important to me, after giving is some thought, I felt none of you would mind...there is always that big "D" button uh? Thanks.... Does anyone know about the family of Thomas STANDISH? He was my 8th gr gf. I need his wives (if he had more than one wife) and children.. I come thru his dau Sarah who md John WIARE/WARE. I need to know who her mother was..sure hate climbing that wrong tree...as I have done in the past! I had WILSON as my direct line, worked on it for years, only to find I was wrong... I have Thomas with two wives...Susanna FRANCIS (not sure if that is her last name, found her in the Ancestral files) and Susanna SMITH d/o Richard and Rebecca (....) SMITH. Thomas STANDISH b 1612 ................, England d 1692 Wethersfield, Hartford, CT md1)............................................ TO Susanna FRANCIS? b.......................... d......................... md2) c 1659 [according to Torrey their first ch was born 1660] TO Susanna SMITH 1624-1692 I know of two daughters, Sarah and Eunice, and now I can add Lydia to that list. The years between the births of the three daughters makes me believe there were two wives, yet in the below site they give Lydia as the d/o Susanna SMITH..who according to Torrey was born 1624, that would make her too young to be Lydia's mother... In Torrey on page 60 under John BELDEN it says this of him: BELDEN, John (1631-1677) & Lydia [RILEY?]; 24 Apr 1657, Wethersfield, CT. Now to mix me up more, I have just found: www.members.tripod.com/~Silvie/Belden.html or http://www.members.tripod.com/~Silvie/Belden.html under "3. John BELDEN b 4 Feb 1630/3 Kippax, Yorkshire, England, d 27 July 1677 Wethersfield, CT., md 24 Apr 1656 at Wethersfield, CT., to Lydia STANDISH..dau of Thomas and Susanna (SMITH) STANDISH." I would say that Torrey was correct when he put a ? by Lydia's surname RILEY? for now we know her name was STANDISH... If John BELDEN and Lydia STANDISH were married 1656..that would mean that Lydia (who is new to me..didn't know of her) was born around 1636...AND I have my Sarah STANDISH her sister, being born that year!! I need some serious help here...don't you agree? 7th gr gp Sarah STANDISH b 1656 at Wethersfield, Hartford, CT md 7 Apr 1681 TO John WIARE~WARE Eunice STANDISH b 1664 Wetherfield, Hartford, CT (date of birth found in Torrey's NE Marr p713) d 1716 md 7 Dec 1693 TO Nathaniel STODDARD widower of Mary MARSHALL -1693 HELP!! Wilma Fleming Haynes gencon@harborside.com 3. Do you have a list of his children?
Does anyone have access to church records for Hamden, CT? The records I'm seeking come from the Congregational Church; or so I think. The dates would be mid 1800's. Specifically I'm looking for Charles LESTER and Mary Ann SMITH. Thank you, Carol

I don't have Randall in my database. Do you have his ancestry? I obtained most of my data from George Watrous, formerly of Danielson, CT, 2-3 years ago. He did much original research of VR's there. Although I was brought up with the family oral tradition of the Watrous name being originally Waterhouse, I am apparently descended from John Waters (b.1657) of Wethersfield, and later Colchester, CT. He was married to Hannah Thompson. That is as far back as I go. I am willing to share what I have. Steve

Please forgive me if you are waiting for a reply from me. My computer suddenly lost all of my messages and I am unable to contact you until you send me a new message. Yesterday, (Tuesday) I tried for hours to retrieve them, but could not. It is distressing as so much valuable information is involved. Thank you to anyone who helps by sending a new message. If anyone is interested, I have information on a sea captain from Connecticut (New London, I believe) who settled in Morrow County, Ohio, about 1817 and took up farming. He was Thomas ORSBORN/OSBORN married to Olive MANNING (b. about 1787). Maureen
Maureen, Your best bet if you don't know where your ancestor originated is to either look up the name at the State Library or ask someone for a lookup if you are not in CT. Once you find what city it is simple to go from there, assuming it's not John Smith:-). Email me privately with what you do know and I'll see what I can do. Mary, If you aren't subbed to the Fairfield County lists, I would suggest you should and post your query. Someone may have info on your John Purcell from Bridgeport. You can sub to the Farfield County onelist below. To anyone interested, Julius has been kind enough to allow me to purchase this book... once I receive it.. I will do limited lookups as the book is old and fragile.. UNTIL I have the book reprinted, and when I get my new copy I will gladly do all the look-ups as they come in.. Please understand my wanting to wait till I have the newer copy so that I do not further destroy this book Pam Davis machtown@realns.com
Lists members, I hope this will be considered genealogically related. I have a question to put to my fellow genealogists. I recently came across a very old family book on the RATHBONE line, this book is in somewhat poor condition, as the binder is shot, but the interior appears to be intact. Has many pictures of family members and different surname links. Book was published in 1898. I am not a book expert but this book I've been told could possibly be restored and could last another hundred years. My dilemma is that I keep getting look-up request and I have politely refused on above conditions. I know how wonderful it is to get others to do look-ups for you when they have something that is possibly unattainable by yourself. I feel bad in refusing to do this and almost feel obligated to do, but I keep telling myself that if I do this thing I might harm this valuable piece of history. Thank you for your kind attention. Please give me some feedback. Julius
I am looking for any information on John Purcell who lived in Bridgeport CT. in 1927. Can any one help me. Hope to hear from someone. Mary Greene@ll.net
Everyone gets the picture. It will take about 45 minutes to download, even with a fast modem. That's because they are in color and you can read every one of the names. Sorry for the time, but what else can I do. Dave from Long Island
