    1. [GenConnecticut-L] cunningham, maley's and carey's
    2. lorraine schneider
    3. I have listed my surnames recently, but I thought I would try again. My g grandmother was Catherine Cunningham b. 1864 in New Haven, Ct. m. James Ansel Freeman, b. 1853 in Brooklyn, NY. They both died within 6 months of one another in 1907 and 1907 and left my grandmother and other siblings to relatives. I know the Maley's were shown as guardians, and the Carey's were relations also. I know there were Connor's mentioned, but not sure if they are related. They all lived in New Haven, Ct. I even have the street they lived on. Any information about these surnames would be appreciated. Lorraine

    1. [GenConnecticut-L] Wentworth/Jones
    2. Hi listers, Recently I put in a request for a Durham look up for Phineas Jones and his wife Olive Wintworth. And thanks to someone on the list I know have the exact birthdate for Phineas. I have found (on LDS) her name is Olive Wentworth and that they were married 1/21/1779 in Vernon, Tolland, CT. Is there anyone on the list that may know of the Wentworth family?? I tried to look it up at the library today, but the books for Vernon were scarce and we do not have one for Tolland. If anyone can find any information on her and her family for me it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Kari

    2. Charlotte Brennan
    3. Susan, You can find the information on the ancestors of Henry (Sidney) Smith through his House and Hale lines in "Hale, House and Related Families" by Donald Lines Jacobus, 1952, 1978, pp. 138-141. This covers the children of Thomas and Lucretia (House) Hale. There is more on the Hale and House lines too. 3. In PORTRAIT OF A RIVER TOWN, 1984, Cunningham and Warner, pg. 184, I found the following in reference to the Alvin Brainerd House, Candlewood Hill Road: "In 1867 the house was sold to Elisha Lester and remained in that family until the turn of the century." There apparently were lots of Smiths in Haddam, but so far have not found any reference to a Mary Ann. Jan Carol Lassen wrote: > > Someone spoke about the Smith's of New Haven, CT. 1. [GenConnecticut-L] Family search
    2. Marty
    3. The search for family roots is for the Family PHILLIPS. First name is David. He and his wife Bessie came from Russia/Poland, area of Suwalki at about the turn of the century and settled in New Haven, CT. The family name was either Filipowski or Filipkowski, although there are other variations these seem to be the best so far. Bessie died, he married a 2nd time but nothing is known of his 2nd wife. He later moved to Norwich and remained there until he moved to New York City to live with a daughter, Sadie. He died there around 1948 although the date is a guess on my part. He had a brother, Herman, (Hymie in the old country.) One known sister, Dora. (Her Russian/Polish name is unknown.) David's first two children were born in Russia/Poland, Rose and Joe. Later children born in the States and I believe that all were from CT. were Benjamin, Abe, Harry and Sadie. I know for certain that Ben. was born in New Haven, 5-10-10. If anything rings a bell please let me known. Thanks very much Marty Phillips mbarry@jps.net mbarry@jps.net
