    2. Carl
    3. To any kind person willing to help me. I have a list of CT census index of all the TODD's listed for 1840 census of the list I started with a TODD Hiram CT LItCHFIELD CO LITCHFIELD 063 1840. I sent a check to Litchfield vital records asking them for the family listing for Hiram for that census year so I could check family names. They sent thecheck back telling me they only records of births and deaths. Also tellling me that I have to check with the Town Clerk of the specfic town involved that there is no county government in CT. So where do I write for the information that I am searching for. Thank You Very Much Carl Todd Pleasant Hill, MO

    3. Ruth, Here is the information from the stone. I haven't had a chance to get into the VRs, but when I do, I'll take a look for any new info. There may be others in the cemetery, but haven't come across them yet. Good luck with your search! 3. Several people pointed out that the Captain of the Titanic was also named Smith. After some searching, I found that his name was indeed Edward J. My husband is a Martin, and the first one we can find is a John Martin who probably would have been born around 1840-1855, probably in Ireland and he died in Amherst MA, probably. Isn't Monterey near Amherst??? He was married to a Jeanette Avery, maybe born in Vermont or born in CT and moved to VT. Their son was Ernest Dwight Martin b. 5/28/1876 in Holyoke, MA who m. 1906 Bertha May Kelso and they lived in Huntington, Hampshire, MA. That's my husband's grandfather. John Martin had so many kids that some went to live with other people and some even took other last names, so perhaps they were actually adopted. Do you think it's possible that your John could be a son of my John? Are you sure yours was born in Ireland, or could it have been his father who was??? The Sprague and Rogers names intrigue me, too. I have them in one of my lines. I have a Love Sprague who m. Judah Bartlett born aft 1725 in Plymouth. And I have a Lovina Sprague b. 1808 in Hawley MA who m. Anthony Sears. I think she was d/o William and Rhoda Sprague, but nothing is known of any of these. I have Anne Rogers b. 4/3/1785 in Conway MA who m. John Starks III b. 1783 in Lyme NH, but whose parents lived in CT. She was d/o Daniel Rogers and Anna Brewster of Lebanon CT. Do you have any info on the ancestry of your Bertha Rogers in CT? Sorry I don't have anything specific for you, but I did want to touch base with you in case you think we may have a connection or two. Sue in MA

    1. [GenConnecticut-L] WHITE STAR LINE Saloon Passenger List, 1889
    2. Sandy Smith
    3. I have transcribed a "Saloon Passenger List" for a trip to Europe taken by my great grandmother, Mrs. Donna R. Cole of San Francisco, in 1889. It is formally printed on heavy cream stock, with artistic renditions of steamships and sailing vessels on the covers, and the passenger list inside. Donna Cole has written hilarious notes next to many of the names giving her opinions of said persons, both positive and otherwise... Her notes also give the nationality of several of the names. If anyone is interested in a name, I'll provide her comments. Also, is this akin to a list of the first class passengers? I'm assuming it is a class of passengers allowed into special lounges. Does anyone recognize any of these people? WHITE STAR LINE UNITED STATES AND ROYAL MAIL STEAMERS ISMAY, IMRIE & CO.
