Looking for information on James Morgan s/o Cyrus Morgan. And other information related to this Morgan Family. I believe my James Morgan to be the son of Cyrus Morgan of New London. Cyrus had a son b. 1821. Cyrus died in Canada West in 1826. My James Morgan was in the 10th Cavalry of Michigan Volunteers. He joined in Grass Lake, Michigan and was a Farrier for the company. His wife was (as near as I can tell) Atlee McCalister or McCorrister(spelling is a guess). As far as I can tell they died in Ohio, Michigan or Wisconsin. In Michigan the Jackson Cty., (Grasslake, Mich) has nothing on either James or Atlee. Thier sons, known to me, died Wisconsin and were born in Ohio: James A. Morgan, b. 18 Jul 1844 in Mercer Cty Ohio died in Wisconsin 23 Jan 1890. And Elvin Morgan, b. 9 Jul 1847, died 30 Jul 1920. Note: The sons moved to Wisconsin in 1872. Would really appreicate any help with this, I am at a brick wall. Have also heard of a book of New England Morgans written by Nathaniel Morgan in 1869. Thanks in advance. James
Does anyone have the address for the Catholic church St. Mary's in New Britain? Is it still an active parish? Is there a published book of any of its records? Maureen

Could anyone please help me with Alice, wife of John Thompson. I believe she married second Robert Parke and she died in New London, CT. I have been reading so much conflicting and confusing information that I now have a headache. Is her maiden name Freeman? Is she the daughter of Henry Freeman and Margaret Edwards? Could you please send me a list of her children and who they married. I have so many Thompson's in my file, I'm getting confused. Thank you so much. Tracy (Thompson) Tomaselli (this is not even my direct Thompson line)
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone might know where I might find the military record of a man who served and died on the CT. Cont. Line, but lived in RI? Thanks, Linda
Hi all I have been lurking around this list for a while and have found it to be very interesting and helpfull. I am researching JARVIS primarily. I am aware of the book on the JARVIS family of Connecticut by George Jarvis and have it on order. Until then I am trying to find the marriage of an Elizabeth CHILDS to an ORD -- Arthur Blagrave/Craven Robert/William Botsford Jarvis/Edmund Theodore or Henry Guy, I am not sure which one she married. These are all male offspring from the marriage of Sarah Harriet JARVIS to Lewis William ORD. (Sarah Harriet JARVIS dau of William Botsford JARVIS UEL born 1799, Danbury, Fairfield, Connecticut, son of Stephen JARVIS of same. I understand that Elizabeth CHILDS is considered to be a Daughter of the American Revolution. However I am not sure how to proceed now. I know that the Jarvis family of York, Upper Canada and the Jarvis family of Connecticut remained in close contact despite the War of 1812 and the American Revolution. regards Vivien
I hope this doesn't seem like an ignorant question but I was wondering how many of the CT. men enlisted in the civil war. Was there a certain age they wouldn't let them go. I have an ancestor that was born in CT. in 1830, would he have been to old to go to war? If not what would have been the reason for not going? Cynthia clwhitford@msn.com
Hi everyone, Could someone please tell me what streets Bushnell Park is on? I am trying to find William MCCULLOCH and his wife Carrie SULLIVAN (nee BROWNLEE). I know they lived near Bushnell Park in 1904 and appear to have lived in Hartford for at least 10 years, probably more. Could someone also give me advice on what indexes are available from 1880 to 1900 to check for a marriage and also any children. Carrie was born in New Orleans circa 1858 and married Swan SULLIVAN in 1878. He died 6 months after their marriage of yellow fever. Carrie and her son (Swan Jnr) are in the 1880 New Orleans census and she died there in 1930. The newspaper obituary says widow of Swan Sullivan and William McCulloch. Old picture postcards sent to her cousin in New Zealand reveal she was living in Hartford between 1904 and 1914. One card of Corning Fountain, Bushnell Park & North Front Capitol says her "home is opposite this building". William was alive in 1914, but had been very ill. Sometime between 1914 and 1930 he died. Any advice on how next to proceed gratefully appreciated. Best regards Claire Smith (Brownlee) in Melbourne, Australia where we're having a very mild winter so far.
