Hi Sandy -- Another reply has already told you that Katherine Lane was the lady married to George Pardee on 29 Dec 1662, rather than Rebecca Lane. Rebecca of unknown surname was apparently his third wife, or perhaps only the name of one of his daughters with Katherine. This comes from the Pardee Genealogy published in 1927, page 89. The author was Donald Lines Jacobus, probably the most authoritative genealogist on the subject of New Haven. If you can locate this book it will probably give you more than you really want to know about George and Katherine's descendants, although from my notes it appears to contain nothing more about Katherine herself. Hello Amanda - The three towns you mentioned are all in Tolland County. That is, presuming you mean Willington, rather than Wellington. There is no Wellington in Connecticut. You should also know, as perhaps you do, that in Connecticut vital records are kept by town, rather than county. All eight county governments were disbanded in the mid 20th century. I would like to have information about Katherine Lane (b. ca 1632, probably in Connecticut), my seventh great grandmother. She was married to George Pardee (b. ca 1624 in England d. 1700 in New Haven). I have found several references about them in RootsWeb, Ancestry.com, and other sources, but no documentation about any civil or church records except that their marriage in 1662 might be documented in the New Haven Vital Records. I would like to know if these records are available online. She might have been previously married to John Tuttle, with whom she had several children. I have found the following reference to this couple: George Pardee m(2) Dec. 29, 1662 Katherine Lane. [New Haven, CT VR] I appreciate any suggestions that someone on this list may have about how to obtain references about Katherine Lane, including her marriage(s), children and other information about her life. Peter McCue [email protected] Seeking any info on my mother's first husband: SAMUEL EDWARD COLE who was born in Cherry Hill (or Pleasant Hill) Cecil Co., Maryland in 1885. He married my mom in Hartford CO., in Aug. 1917 and they moved to Newark, DE. where they both worked as paper mill employees. Cole had to regiister for thr WW-1 draft in June 1918 but he was on some kind of sick leave. By 1919 they were separated and my mom moved back to Hartford where she had a son, Henry in Sept. 1919. Cole moved in with his sister Ida Morrison in Newark, DE. Cole was an officer in the Knights of Pythias and the Freemasons. A member of the Methodist Church and a volunteer fireman. I will gladly pay for an authentic photo of Mr. Cole. He died in 1940 and is buried in the Cole family plot in the Methodist Church Cemetery in Cherry Hill, MD. Thank you. Peter B. Speaking of Chittenden, would anyone have a death date/location of Dency Chittenden, b. 30 Oct 1812, daughter of Joseph Chittenden and Dency Post, and wife of William Redfield?
I knew a Chittenden that lived in North Guilford, Ct in the early 1970's. She was in her fifties or sixty's . I was quite young then an she was a grandma type to me. I would check the LDS records. They may help. She was LDS. They try to do at least 4 generation back. thank you for your note, Cindy. I've been researching for 17 years, and was a regular patron of the fhc when I lived in southern California. there are fhc's here, but I haven't used them much since I moved here. my one trip to the fhc here was very frustrating. things are organised by number only. being somewhat dislexic, it was very difficult for me to use the facility. why would anyone set up an fhc by number only? that's the hardest way to use a library of any sort-or any filing system. I've talked with other Chittenden researchers since I've finally straitened out the confusion with the Ross's (my Cynthia's physician put the wrong names in her death record, so I chased a non-existant couple for years-now I know why I couldn't find them.) none of them are familiar with Polly and Sally as children of anyone. there doesn't seem to be a one name interest group, either. both the NY and the CT Azariah's have been submitted to the IGI by descendants, but they don't know much about either of them. either AF or WorldConnect has a good file on the NY Azariah, and I've place the CT Azariah at WorldConnect.
