Hi Bob, i was born here in Ct, and Simsbury is in Hfd. Cnty alright, but as for Dover, have you checked out NY? My mom's people came from Dover, dutchess (Cuchess) Cnty in NY state. Back then, i believe the boundaries were different. I know that somewhere in the time, there was this great area where NY, Ct an dpart of Ohio and some of the west end of Mass were grouped, as was Me, NH and Vt until borders were changed. I have found this with several of the ancestral names on both my mom and dad and first husbands people. I don't recall ofr know of a Dover in Ct. I worked for the phone com. for years and can't remember one here. Of course there could have been a name change way back, but it's a thought for further exploration, if you get stuck. Good luck and happy hunting. Ginny "Robert A. Interestingly, I am related to both Thomas Holcombe through Elizabeth and James Eno through his first wife. I have Thomas Ferguson and Elizabeth as her parents but the source is pretty unreliable. Don't know how anyone not an Indian could have been born there abt. 1615. Might be a good idea to check out those dates again, or perhaps they were born in England. Dave from Long Island

There are a number of sites such as these below that address immigration and will give you some background to locate your information. Also, the book Researcher's Guide to American Genealogy by Val Greenwood, is online and free to download to your hard drive and read at your leisure. It covers basic information, but some chapters will be of interest to you. http://genealogical.com/ http://genealogy.com/86_taylor.html http://genealogy.com/31_donna.html http://genealogy.com/00000388.html http://genealogy.com/68_fryxell.html The CT State Library has a page on naturalization that you will find very helpful, as you will the rest of the page. http://www.cslib.org/natural.htm Have fun! She probably got her papers at theFederal Court near where she lived at that time. You can send for them,. and ask for the whole file.
Hi there, Perhaps you could write to the Connecticut State Library, they may be able to tell you in the Genealogy room. Just a hunch, good luck. Nancy-Jo Nunez A genealogy enthusiast; researching Clinton, Gibbs, Weampee, Wampy, Wimpey, Walmesley/Wamsley/Womsley and Onsley in New England.
Hello All, I am trying to find out where a person would get their Citizenship papers in 1900 - 1910 . My grandmother came here in about 1900 and on the Census it says she got her Citizenship papers in about 1904. I know that she came over from England but don't know for sure the year she came. I don't know where to look for this information. Can anyone help me? Thank you for any information that you can give me, Jane USA
This week I copied pages 241 to 324 of the West Cemetery, Bristol, CT from the Hale Collection at the CT State Library in Hartford. Pages 241 to 260 I have typed in a text file that is online, the rest I have in 7 small PDF files online. When these are all typed I will merge them in with the large files that I have online already. If you are interested in typing up one of the pdf files like the tesx file that I have online I would appreciate it, just let me know offline first. http://www.rays-place.com If you have not visited the Cemetery section of my web site I have a over 150 of them for CT, NH and NY online. Many more will be added when I can afford to copy more in Hartford, so please stop back often for updates. Cheers Ray Brown

I copied the rest of the pages from the Hale Collection for the West Cemetery in Bristol, CT and have half of the new ones online in PDF files. These cover pages 241 to 290 of the Hale Collection for Bristol, CT. The Remaining pages 291 to 324 will be scanning into PDF files to add until I get them typed up. When these are typed I will merge them in with the 4 large files that I have online for the West Cemetery. I am keeping the PDF files small (no more than 10 pages) so they will download easily. Please fell free to use the PDF files while the additional pages are being worked on. If you would like to help out by typing up one of the 10 page PDf files I could use the help, it would be appreciated. These can be found in the Cemetery listing section of my web site, and will also go on the Bristol, CT AHGP - GenWeb site when typed. http://www.rays-place.com If you have not visited my web site lately some of the new things are over 550 town histories for Maine and New York (NY has the big ones), more 1790 census records for VT, NH and Maine and more vital records for MA. I have had a lot of help in these other states. Cheers Ray Brown

Thank you so much. I believe this must be him at age 3 because the birth month of February matches his February 14, 1897 birthdate as he gave all his life. During his life on the census' and marriage records, he was very inconsistent about his mother's place of birth. I don't find him in the Connecticut 1910 census as a 13 year old. He would probably be in the St. Francis orphanage, or out of there at a very early age. However, I'm wondering if there was a 1910 census listing separately the residents in this orphanage. Warren P. Randall as an adult on census records and other records has given his mother's name as Nellie Randall and his place of birth as Massachussetts & sometimes Connecticut. I'm not sure how he got from Massachusetts to this New Haven County orphanage, whether he was placed there or whether he was sent there, or whether his mother moved to the New Haven area. I find a widow Nellie Randall living in New Haven area in 1900 with 2 children b. 1891 & 1895: and also I find a Nellie Randall, 32 as a single sister-in-law in Suffolk Co., Mass. and both are possibilities.
