    3. This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --------------020403070101080102080901 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sheila, Thank you for the tombstone photos of Samuel NORTON (1681-1767) and his wife Dinah BIRDSEYE (-1765)...very clear. Although they are not my direct ancestors (2 generations removed), I appreciate seeing them and knowing where to look for them. As for the parents of Elizabeth MASON, I merely have notes "Dau. of Nicholas MASON" and "American Marriages before 1699, William M Clemens, 1926, pg 161" and "Gen. of CT Families from NEHGR, vol II pg 665". You could check the indexes of NEHGR for original data on the last reference. Frankly, I don't know where I got the name Nicholas MASON. Molly LUCAS is mentioned on pg 859 & 864 of "Families of Early Guilford, CT", Alvan Talcott, 1984/1997. This is an excellent series of 2 books, sold by the CT Soc. of Genealogists. Expensive, but pages 855 through 937 (volume II) are all about NORTONs. There are hundreds of NORTONs in volume II, and it includes almost all of those you mentioned. Matilda GILMORE is not in the index of these volumes. You asked what I had on Thomas NORTON and Grace WELLS. The attachment is a family group sheet for them. It is a straight text file (.TXT) which can be read/printed by wordpad or most word processors. I have visited Guilford CT, where they are most likely buried, but was unable to find their tombstones, probably because many bodies and tombstones were moved from what is now the village square to somewhere else. Good luck in your own research. Marty Irons [email protected] All e-mail scanned by Norton 2005 anti-virus, updated online daily. Thank God we live in a country where we have the option to vote. 3. Good Morning Nancy, long time, no contact! i have the death records for your great grandfather, Carlton Leslie Graves Per Record of Deaths, Madison, CT VS Office, Pg 366, 1894: Carlton Leslie Graves d 3Nov1894, age 38y, 1m, 1day, male, married, b Madison, CT, resided Madison, cause of death: Phetisis Pulmonalis, occupation: Laborer, parents (Dickenson) Graves, signed by Daniel M Webb, MD. Calton's death is recorded on the same page as our mutual ELIAKIM STARR BENEDICT, and he is buried in the Hammonasset Cemetery in Madison. unmarked grave, location unknown. Strongly suspect Carlton is also buried in the same cemetery as it was the local cemetery in use at that time. The VS office in Madison does have a list of who is buried where, you may want to check with them. The cemetery did not keep plot and lot records back then, and unless a headstone was put in at the time, burial locations are unknown. i have spoken with the cemetery caretaker, and he said it is not uncommon to unearth old bones when digging new graves. will contact you off line, we have a lot of catching up to do! sandee [email protected] > [Original Message] > From: Nancy Jones <[email protected]> > To: <[email protected]> > Date: 10/21/2005 7:47:35 AM > Subject: RE: [GenCT] Will do lookups. > > Good Morning from Florida Tami, > I hope things are better for you after Katrina, > Are you still doing look-ups or am I too late? > > I am tying to find burial place for My Great Grand Father, Carlton Leslie > Graves, born: Oct. 2, 1856 in Madison , Connecticut, to William Graves and > Emily Dickinson> He married Sarah (Sadie) Frances Benedict, June 30, > 1883 also in Madison> He died in 1894 I believe in Madison also. 3. Tami, Thanks for the offer. I am looking for parents of, or any additional info on: Frederick Curtis b abt 1816 NY married Wealthy Brown b abt 1814 CT dau of John Brown & Elizabeth Palmer. Brother Albert Banks Brown. Frederick & Wealthy had 1 dau, Helen/Nellie, b abt 1853. Helen married Louis Alexander, son of Robert Alexander b c1806 in NH and Maria (Hall?) b c1816 CT. By 1900 they are in Brooklyn. They are married by 1880, in the Glastonbury census. They had Frederick b c1875, Louis b c1878. Frederick & Wealthy are in the 1850, 1870, 1880 Glastonbury Census. In 1860 they are here in Saugerties, Ulster Co, NY. Frederick had a brother Joseph, married to Celia, children Edwin & Esther. Joseph died by, I think, 1860. Maybe 1870. There may have been another brother, John. Frederick and Joseph had the Curtis Manu Co in Curtisville; another name F Curtis & Co; in/on Salmon Brook, manufacturers of silver products/spectacles, etc. There was another set of brothers, Joseph & Frederick, I think also with a brother John, all of about the same age as mine, in Hartford Co area. I do not know how they are related. There is confusion as to who were the 'silver' Curtis'. I appreciate your help. Let me know if you need any Ulster/Greene Co NY help. 2. What a nice thing to do for others! I would like to know if you can look up the name William Holmes? Here is what my cousins and I do know: William Holmes, born abt. 1802 in CT. He died April 26, 1874 in Wethersfield, CT. He was married to Eliza Belden, March 7, 1827 in Stepney Parish, which is now Rocky Hill, CT. We also know that he was married a second time to a woman named Hattie, but we do not have her full name. We were wondering if you can find anything about who William's parents might be? Or if William and Eliza's children are listed who were born in the 1820's and 1830's? Thank-you so much. Rolande Gay [email protected]

    1. Lewis in Connecticut about 1813
    2. Daniel David Lewis Frommherz
    3. I am sending this message to several addresses. Hopefully one or more of you folks can help me with this new updated research. I am trying to figure where they were located if in various places and how the Lewis family came from Carmarthenshire South Wales to the USA after 1813 and before 1844. John son of William was born 13 February 1771 then baptized at Llandeilo Abbercywyn (Parish of the Blessed St. Teilo) 15 February 1772. He married Sarah maiden surname unknown possibly same parish they had John and or William in Wales about 1813 they came to the USA with the child or children. William and or John may be the same person from records that I have located married Cynthia maiden name also unknown born in Virginia 1807. Records and census enumerations show that they had children Ann Marie 1844, Cynthia Ann 1846, and Ella 1851 the youngest was born after Cynthia became a widow in NYC 1851. Ann Marie and Cynthia Ann were both born in Connecticut. I have found the 1850 census for Fairfield County. Surname Lieus is the spelling in the 1850 census they are living in Greenwich. All three daughters and their spouses and at least 2 children of Ann Marie plus the parents and grandparents are buried at Rye, NY. In the Christ's Church section of Greenwood-Union Cemetery. Thanks Daniel

    3. I have John and Cynthia (nee ?) Lewis Jr. who were located in Darien, Connecticiut (Danbury) on 9 July 1844. I am not sure if Darien is in Danbury County or if both Darien and Danbury are in Fairfield County. I don't have or cannot at this time trust the source 100% however because the source give the Lewis surname as Lukes. My own research had the correct birth year and state. -- ÐÏࡱá
