Diane, some of the folks you are looking for may be found in the Barbour Records for Connecticut and they can be searched at Ancestry.com. Perhaps a library or Family History Center near you may have access to it if you do not have a subscription. They are called _Connecticut Town Birth Records, pre-1870 (Barbour Collection)_ (http://www.ancestry.com/search/db.aspx?dbid=1034) on the web site. They have marriages and deaths as well. If you only have one or two to look up and don't have access to that paid site, perhaps someone could look them up for you. Carol **************Play online games for FREE at Games.com! Sandra, some of those families may have family associations, such as the Curtis family. I know they were very helpful to me in the past. You might find that they have something to offer you in the way of help in your research. No doubt others can tell you about some other societies or associations for some of the rest of the names. My names in the New Haven area include many of the early Puritans and their descedants. Alling, Peck, Todd, Merriman, Ives, Munson, Street, Bunnell, Nash, Preston, Matoon, Williams, Wilmot, Mansfield, Glover, Hall, Hull, Lamphier, Yale, and many others. Willoughby Williams and family of Wallingford are of particular interest to me as I am a direct descendant. I have a lot of info about the Merriman family, their descendants and their journey to Kentucky, Illinois, Oregon, California and some of their later descendants even ended up in Montana under the name of Prather. I also love making contact with cousins from CT and beyond. Lynn Schrag
Two individuals have developed excellent sites for doing historical family research in from the mid 1600's to the late 1800's. They have not done it alone. Others have contributed to the transcriptions of records found on theses sites. Among the records on both site are transcription of the Barbour Records for some towns. Ray's Place For New England's Past http://www.rays-place.com/ Jane Devlin's Site http://dunhamwilcox.net/ And don't forget to investigate USGenweb Project websites for the Connecticut counties and towns. What is available from site to site varies, but the treasures one does find are worth the time and effort to look. Happy hunting and good luck, Marilyn CT

My CT ancestors were in the following families: Cornish, Hall, Hubbard, Marchant, Oviatt, and Sperry. Please contact me if you have these surnames in common. Most of them lived in the New Haven and Milford, CT areas. Does anyone know about any church records which are available for the New Haven or Milford, CT. area between 1795 to 1830 ? I am especially interested in birth records, baptisms, and marriages. Thanks... Diane _recordbug@aol.com_ (mailto:recordbug@aol.com) **************Play online games for FREE at Games.com! I believe Godfrey Memorial Libraty in Middletown, CT has a large collectiom of old CT church records. I don't know if the areas you want are included but a lot of their old records are online for memeber of the library. I am no longer a member but they have a fantastic library. If you haven't had contact with their resources--you might like to look into it.
