I don't seem to be having any luck finding recent discussions of this- so I'll throw this out and see if there is a better way. I use Steed's Brother's Keeper and recently started using a laptop. at some point I added some data to my desktop -- then I added some to my laptop. Now I'm not sure what I added to either. [and somewhere along the line I must have unchecked 'put changes in bkaudit.txt file' in BK's options, so I can't go that way] So I want to compare them. I exported gedcoms from each- and went to Word to do a compare. The document is 1100 pages long, so it will take some time to scroll through for a 1/2 dozen inconsistencies. I downloaded a 30 day trial of Compare suite which promised to create a "report". The report does show the changes a little more boldly than word- but it is still a 1100 page doc to scroll through. Is there something that will look at the 2 gedcoms- and say 'you added info to person 3800' or 'you added person #3892', or 'deleted #16'? [this must be more difficult than it seems to me-who-isn't-a-programmer because John steed has had a compare tool in the works for quite a while, but hasn't added it yet] Thanks, Jim

I originally used floppy disks, then stiffies, then a Zip disk, now a flash drive. A simple batch file does it. -- Steve Hayes from Tshwane, South Africa Web: http://hayesfam.bravehost.com/stevesig.htm Blog: http://methodius.blogspot.com E-mail - see web page, or parse: shayes at dunelm full stop org full stop uk
