He's presumably got one of those sites full of adverts that generates him cash per however many number of hits he gets. There's obvious clues - a trite, simplistic but sensible-sounding short piece of text which may or may not relate to the subject of the group (one of the other genealogy groups got one on fishing, for example), a throwaway, gibberish email address and an invitation ot click on an URL for more info. They turn up periodically, it's not clear whether it's always the same chancer. I normally ignore them. Lesley Robertson
