I was wondering if there wsa software (preferably on Linux) that could take a GED file and prune it to just direct ancestors of an individual. Or should I just hacl one up? -- ==John ffitch
You could also use LifeLines. Unlike Gramps, however, you would have to write a short report generating program to output your GEDCOM.

On Linux you can use Gramps. Family Trees > Manage family trees Click on New to create a new tree Click on Load (the new tree might be empty but you've still got to load it). Family Trees > Import In the People view select your target individual Family Trees > Export Follow the export wizard until you get to the GEDCOM export options and one of the options in the drop-down list for Person Filter will be the ancestors of your target. -- Ian The Hotmail address is my spam-bin.
