The versions are about 40 Mb downloads. Personally, I can't find anything special in Gramps which would make me want to use it - not even the price! I do not find it very intuitive or easy to use (but then I've only played with it for a couple of hours). It may be some operating systems have very little choice of genealogy programs so some users have to use Gramps? I've been happy to pay something for a good program which I knew I was going to use a lot over many years. I did an evaluation for my own use five or more years ago of most of the Windows programs then available and opted for The Master Genealogist (TMG). I've not regretted my decision as it has done just about all I've needed and has good support. The only other program I use very occasionally is Genbox, not for data entry, etc but because it has an "everyone" chart option not available in TMG v7 (Genbox has also not been updated for many years).

OK, there's one navigational issue which is a PITA and I've suggested changing it as a feature request. But I do use it a lot. > It may be some operating systems have very little choice of genealogy > programs so some users have to use Gramps?
