They obviously don't know how to do it, so I'd be very grateful if someone who is familiar with FTM could post simple step by step instructions on how to create a GEDCOM file in that program, which I could then pass on to the person who sent me that file. -- Steve Hayes from Tshwane, South Africa Web: http://hayesfam.bravehost.com/stevesig.htm Blog: http://methodius.blogspot.com E-mail - see web page, or parse: shayes at dunelm full stop org full stop uk

I searched the archives of alt.usenet.offline-reader.forte-agent (Thanks Don!) and immediately found confirmation in instructions to someone else with version 1.21: "Just copy your entire Agent folder to the new drive" - so I did. Seems to have worked a treat. Thanks, Denis!

I am not sure about what you want to do. In my old computer, FA was on a specific directory that can exist in Windows 98 but no in Windows 7 (perhaps since XP). All I did was to modify the folders for attached and temporary files. In the FA version I have (the commercial one, not the Free one), FA reads data files from the folder where it is located, and it did so probably in all previous versions. So, move all your files, including agent.exe, where you need them. You can even have 2 copies of FA if you use it for emails or subscribed to 2 newgroups providers. Try Control Panel_Administrative Tools_Computer Management_Disk Management. That *should* show up every partition that is recognised. To change a drive letter, *right click* the relevent partition and the option to change letter appears. HTH, -- Cheers, Tim S. (please delete myfairlyobviousspamtrap if you wish to reply directly)

Thanks Does it come up in Windows Explorer? If not, there is a function somewhere in the administrative files area to set or change drive letters. I've forgotten XPese already, but I'm pretty sure it's there. There are also third party applications (hopefully including some free ones) that can do the same thing. If it comes up in Explorer but not in other programs it sounds like a registry entry may be missing or mangled. Do you use the CD's or have you put the files on your HDD (to do that you need to follow the instructions under the text help file which can be found on the first resource CD.) 1. Help wanted to printscreens (Windows 7)
    2. Denis Beauregard
    3. Hi : I decided to write a step by step page to explain how to install a CD-ROM I made on a hard disk. I made a first version in French using my own computer to print screens. Unfortunately, I don't have near me an English version of Windows 7 and can't make the translation as I would like to do. I followed these steps : 1- started Irfanview in the Capture mode 2- changed the screen size to 800x600 and changed background to white 3- printed the screens I needed 4- increased the screen size to 1200 5- printed the 2 last screens (how it looks like on browsers) 6- edited the images with paint shop pro. 7- wrote the text to explain the pictures I can do steps 4 to 7 but would need someone to make steps 1 to 3 with the same pictures I made. The French version is at http://www.francogene.com/installer/ I can make a quick translation by writing the English version on the French images but this may look like too amateur in my opinion. Can someone help me ?
