Tickettyboo Cant help but wonder about payment ? As of Nov 2012 the Probate folk hadn't heard of PayPal etc All fees had to be paid in pounds sterling. That makes it a very expensive exercise for overseas genes Maybe they will consider the excellent the UK Archives documents on line service . I recently downloaded an 18 page 1849 will for 3 pounds 50p. That took no more than 10 secs. Very impressive ! I dont mind paying a reasonable fee . Its the unreasonable that gets up my nose ! That makes it a very >>expensive exercise for overseas genes [] Unless credit card companies in .au behave differently, I would hope the pricing (and payment acceptance) being in sterling shouldn't be expensive: on the odd occasions I've bought from, say, USA, using credit card, it's been translated at a reasonable rate. Unless you're saying they'll only accept UK cheques or similar - which, for a new service, I would hope is unlikely: that would be something of an inconvenience to UK citizens too, many of whom rarely use cheques! And, as you point out, many other government organisations (TV licence, car tax, ...) accept payment by credit card. (Actually they charge - pass on, to be fair - a fee for credit card, but accept debit cards too, usually at no charge.) -- J. P. Gilliver.
