Draft you on the spot (in > which case they must have been some sort of official)? Just bullies. And, they'd beat you black'n'blue. As others have said, registering and serving were separate issues. ISTR being told that IF someone was drafted or enlisted after registering, their registration card was moved from one file to another, which explains why someone known to serve can't be found in the Draft Registration Cards originally housed at the Atlanta branch of our NARA.
