    1. William SAUNDERS died 1842, Cannot find in 1841 Census

    3. I have a death certificate dated the 6th Feb 1842 for William SAUNDERS an agricultral labourer who died aged 68 in Sevenoaks Union Workhouse in Kent. I have now seen on FamilySearch a burial 9th Feb 1842 at Chiddingstone, Kent for William SAUNDERS age 65. I think this is probably the same man but I am unable to find this William SAUNDERS in the 1841 Census. I am hoping that this is the William SAUNDERS that baptised a daughter Eliza on the 12th April 1818 at Edenbridge, Kent and was probably married on 29th June 1817 at Sundridge, Kent. I have seen a 1820 settlement examination for William SAUNDERS residing in Edenbridge. this states that he was born in Crowhurst (no county specified) and had settlement in Chiddingstone. Can anybody help with an 1841 Census entry or a baptism for William? Jill

E.g. SANDERS, LANDERS, TANDERS, SAUNDESS and so on. The handwriting in the 1841 EBs is often difficult. Regards, John Henley
