Partly because I didn't react to her name in the thread (I find, maybe it's age, that I tend to do that more often in communications that can spread over years). Partly because I shouldn't have made the comment anyway (I am, after all, a list administrator) and it was unprofessional to mention a particular Rootsweb group. Partly because I should have been clearer - I meant that my posts were blocked [trapped] rather than that I was blocked. Once, a very shallow youth of 40+ years ago, I was at a wine/cheese thingy for dons (and their partners) and undergraduates. I said to someone 'Who is that really odd guy over there?". She said 'That's my husband'. Cringe. So it can happen at any age. I unsubscribed from the GenBrit list and went back to a newsgroup format (which forces me to behave) because I couldn't guarantee to Wendy that I wouldn't post again out of plain text, and she was insistent on that. It's a real problem - I don't remember to switch over. Last week, a brother (now over 70 - so no spring chicken) wrote to me in astonishment - 'Do you know you are emailing in plain text?'. As this is meant as an apology to Wendy, and as this is gatewayed to GenBrit, I won't say anything further here on the subject of Rootsweb and its survival. Chris
