Hi Anne, after reading the site notes I tried with both search types, putting the surname first then his first name, with no results, then yes I tried using his surname only which brought up what looked like adverts for a "building firm" What I was hoping from the search was to find what page the death notices were on and any obituaries? I have ordered his 1987 death certificate which will tell me where to look better. But for other searches it still leaves me wondering, I will try and contact the paper and ask. I will report back on any findings in case anyone wants to use their archive themselves. Thank you for your help, Mick. IOW.

    3. Hi all, Has anyone mastered searching on the Isle of Wight County Press Archives please? I am trying to find the death announcements in 1987 editions of the County Press. I have read their search tips, but cannot see a solution in them! In 1987 editions would anyone know what page they are likely to be on please? The thumbnail pictures of each page are just too small for me to make out. I have tried searching for "Family Announcements" and " Death Announcements" but get no results. I would also like to find any "Obituaries" If I have to open every page looking, it will quickly eat up my credits, I am looking for a death that should be in Jan Feb, March or April 1987 Mick. IOW.
