Dear Listers, I am in contact with a family member in the USA who has a letter his ggg grandfather, Samuel Emmett DALE wrote in 1897 to his cousin Helen BROWN in Australia. The letter is a copy and doesn't have an address so I don't even know where in Australia Helen lived. BROWN was her married name and two 'uncles' are mentioned Henry and Peter. Their surname may be DALE . Samuel Emmett DALE's parents were Samuel DALE b Dublin, Ireland Oct 17 1813 d May 14, 1865 and Jane ALCOCK, b Dublin, Ireland, July 29, 1815 d March 19, 1901. Married in Dublin Jan 2, 1839. Their children were John Curran DALE 1839-1932, Samuel Emmett DALE 1841-1915; Stephen Alcock DALE 1843-?; William Wilson DALE 1845 -?; all born in Dublin, Ireland Jane DALE 1847-1847; Henry J DALE 1859 - 1850; Alice Martha DALE 1850 - ?; Henry Joseph DALE 1853 - 1933; Charles James DALE 1856 - 19?? All born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin Samuel E DALE married Hannah Harriet Beckwith (my line) in Chicago in 1831, Their children were Gertrude, Walter Frederick, Harriett and Stephen all born in Chicago. John would be happy to make contact with any descendants of Helen BROWN. Not much information to go on but stranger things have happened.
