    3. Hi All, I cannot believe my bad luck - I have just used the MMBW search for Canterbury Rd for 1904 - the closest to the 1909 I know they lived in Canterbury Rd. Fantastic maps with "HOUSE NAMES" for those that were named. I searched almost the full length of Canterbury Rd but no "Hazelton". He must have built the house and named it himself after 1904. Anyway for others - Search the SLV catalogue ... www.slv.vic.gov.au Enter in the Search box ... mmbw [suburb] [street name] Thank you Susie Z. Not all are there (I tried the Melbourne) but it is wonderful Regards Pat -----Original Message----- From: Pat Wade [mailto:pmwade@optusnet.com.au] Sent: Friday, 21 February 2014 7:29 PM To: 'GENANZ-L@rootsweb.com' Subject: Canterbury Rd Camberwell, Victoria

    3. Hi Pat, Well, if you want to get serious about it, you should know that there are HEAPS more MMBW plans at PROV - it's just you have to search for the right one and actually go there to see them. And from experience they can be quite different and quite different years to the ones digitised by the State Library. PROV and SLV are jointly working to see that there is a full coverage across the suburbs [SLV had a few gaps] but I doubt that all the years available were going to be digitised. For some areas the number of houses with names is over 80% - the most comprehensive I've ever seen and I've encouraged some historical societies to consider indexing all the house names and addresses for their area - but that's another story. Have a look at the alternatives for other cities / states and be prepared to be blown away if you take time to look at the 1908 City of Auckland Map - be patient and investigate it properly and you'll see what I mean - includes the full rate book details with the map! I personally think this should be the yardstick for the MINIMUM we should accept from ALL local governments! <vbg> http://zades.com.au/gandd/index.php/thisthat/anzsewers Regards .......... 3. Hi Susie, Thank you - it sounds good to me as a MINIMUM :-) Things have come a long way since I started and it is wonderful. You still need patience and a lot of slow "plodding" but it is so much better. Sometimes you just need the help of others in new areas of search. Thank you' Pat -----Original Message----- From: Susie Zada [mailto:szada@zades.com.au] Sent: Monday, 24 February 2014 1:19 PM To: 'Pat Wade'; GENANZ-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: Canterbury Rd Camberwell, Victoria Hi Pat, Well, if you want to get serious about it, you should know that there are HEAPS more MMBW plans at PROV - it's just you have to search for the right one and actually go there to see them.
