MargM says that she can't find his birth in Victoria. Without that we can't do much. Do you know his parents' names and where they came from and when? Did his N.Z. marriage certificate give at least their names? It is a long shot, but I too am looking for a Hinchey a bit later. In 1944 in Mayfield, N.S.W., Dorothy Margaret Hinchey married a Williams born in 1903. I am told that it was her second marriage and either she or her first husband came from Dunolly, Vic. where a family member was Mayor. That is as much as I have been able to find out. I can't find the first marriage if there was one. This may eventually tie in with your family somewhere. If I do get any leads, I will pass them on, in case it helps. Doug.
